FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
HAMILTON, ONTARIO — October 1, 2014 — The rumours are true! choreographer Gabreïl Spiegelschrift is back in Ontario and very excited to announce registration is open for his 18th year of dance classes in his new home of Hamilton.
Three new adult beginner courses of Swing, Night Club Latin and Social Ballroom will be offered from October 6, 2014 onward at the Sky Dragon Centre in downtown Hamilton across from Jackson Square just off of James St. (above Homegrown Hamilton).
Known for their high energy and extreme fun, classes with "Gabby" as his students call him, combine his punkish tattooed blue collar farm boy sensibilities with his contrasting highly detailed historical knowledge of classical dance techniques. There is a reason they call him gabby.
Since 1996 Gabby has balanced out the dark and grittier “punk rock ballet - just !@#$ the ballet part” of his contemporary dance theatre with teaching social dance. Focusing on partnership, confidence development, and nurturing mad skills as students celebrate the joy of dance (and look awesome doing it) this unique accessible introduction to dance has been shared with literally thousands of students, children to seniors through out Canada.
Gabreïl is thrilled to have the opportunity to continue his classes here in Hamilton — enough chat let's start dancing.
More information and class schedules are available at http://www.studios1.ca
phone : 905.966.1890
Classes taught at : Sky Dragon, 2nd Floor, 27 King William St. Hamilton, Ontario - above Homegrown Hamilton.
studios1.ca was created as a dance course information hub for Gabreïl and associated professionals initially in Toronto, Guelph and abroad in Ireland and the US. In 2009 while centred in Montréal, studios1.ca expanded to include the former Marianopolis Community Recreation offering additional programs taught by leading national dance professionals.
About Gabreïl Spiegelschrift
Raised on the family pig farm outside his birthplace of Fergus, Ontario, this country-boy-cum-street-punk dropped out of Art School at 16 to begin a continuing journey in contemporary dance. Combining high art conventions with folk metaphor and eastern dance ideals with western idioms under his signature raw brute force, Gabreïl creates what Dance International calls “gutsy and distinct” live performances and award winning dance film projects that have been presented and broadcasted through out Canada, the United States and Europe.
Some notable musical collaborations and performances are with Canadian Industrial rockers Malhavoc, and the ethnopunk world music ensemble Rhea’s Obsession, American cellist Elinor Frey, as well as Ashley MacIsaac & the Paper Boys for the CBC duMaurier Concert Stage in Vancouver.
His adventures have also included teaching comprehensive social dance classes since 1996 and hiding out in Ireland ceart go leor!
